Papal fallibility – The Lord’s prayer

This is so sad and such a concern that I’m not going to add my own comment, except to say, watch and pray!

Matthew 6:9-13

akjv

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Luke 11:1-4

1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Pope Francis wants to change line of ‘Our Father’

1 John 5:16-21

16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Proverbs 18

The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters,
    and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

This article offers Christians an opportunity to understand what Roman Catholicism truly is and whether it can ever be reformed.

“Roman Catholics as individuals and groups may have different opinions about the Pope. After all, the Church of Rome is not a monolith, and even Popes polarize the assessments of the Catholic people. But what happens when negative voices become more frequent, more outspoken, more radical in their criticism, as seems to be the case in recent months? While public opinion is still heavily influenced by the overall positive image that Francis has, and continues to consider him as a kind of ‘hero’, within Catholic circles the ‘wait-and-see’ approach toward some awkward aspects of his teaching is coming to an end. Groups of intellectuals, priests, and even cardinals are voicing their growing embarrassment and are doing it publicly and with a severe tone. In raising their concerns, what they point to are not some peripheral elements but important matters of doctrine. The irony is that the one who is supposed to guard the Roman Catholic deposit of faith is charged with allegations of introducing confusion, if not heresy.”

Papal fallibility

Who could not like such an appealing face? Our hearts are moved to pity. But getting past human emotion, we have to see that his words are wrong, leading men and women down the broad way to destruction.

Proverbs 17:15

NKJV

He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.

In his widely acclaimed 2013 Exhortation The Joy of the Gospel, the programmatic document of his pontificate, Francis writes that “Non-Christians, by God’s gracious initiative, when they are faithful to their own consciences, can live justified by the grace of God” (n. 254).

Where Does Pope Francis Stand on the Doctrine of Justification?

Romans 3:10-12

10 As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”

Insight on prophecy from the Historical perspective

Revelation 13

And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Here is a transcription of the text of the page above:

“. . .the persecution of Nero and Domitian. 42 months meant a temporary period.

   “To the Futurist interpreter, the Beast is the Antichrist himself, in his 10-kingdom federated empire, the last form of Gentile dominion, in the Tribulation period, just before the Lord Comes. His blasphemies, and his brutal war on the saints, will make it a time of trouble, the like of which the world has never before known. The 42 months are taken to be a literal 3 1/2 years.

   “To the Historical interpreter, the Beast represents the Concentration and Personification of World-Power, thru the whole period of history, as one Entity, but manifesting itself in various forms and in various ages; with many and diverse modifications. The Seven Heads are the Seven Great Powers which have dominated history: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, and Papal Rome. The healing of the death-stroke refers to the rise of Papal Rome out of the ruins of Pagan Rome, and its domination of the world on a vaster extent, and for a longer time, and with a more despotic hand, than any of its predecessors. The blasphemies refer to the claims of the Popes to infallibility, authority to forgive sins, grant indulgences, etc. The war on the saints is taken to refer to the Papal persecutions of the Middle Ages and early Reformation Era, in which, some historians have estimated, over 50,000,000 martyrs perished at the hands of Papal Rome and which constituted one of the cruelest and most brutal chapters in the history of mankind. The 42 months, 1260 days, is taken to mean 1260 years, the approximate duration of the Papacy as a World-Power, 6th to 18th centuries.”

Keeping informed – An accusation of heresy

It is likely that Christians in every age have felt that as sane men and women they were living in a madhouse. This seems to be the case for us today.

Jude 20,21

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,  21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

Revelation 17:1,2

17 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

Roman Catholic Leaders Send Letter to Pope, Accusing Him of Heresies

Pulpit & Pen Newsroom

“A letter twenty-five pages long laid out the perceived heresies committed, taught or espoused by Pope Francis, was signed by 40 Roman Catholic Leaders and delivered to him to consider . . . Accusing Francis of being influenced by Luther, the document says…

‘In the second place, we feel compelled by conscience to advert to Your Holiness’s unprecedented sympathy for Martin Luther, and to the affinity between Luther’s ideas on law, justification, and marriage, and those taught or favoured by Your Holiness in Amoris laetitia and elsewhere necessary in order that our protest against the seven heretical propositions listed in this document may be complete; we wish to show, albeit in summary form, that these are not unrelated errors, but rather form part of a heretical system. . .’”
