A word in season – 1 Corinthians, Psalm 8

Excerpt from an excellent devotional on Psalm 8:

1 Cor. 1:26-29

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:  But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;  And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.

“It is this principle that allows us to be used of the Lord for His glory and honor.  After all, are we not all weak and impotent in our acts of service to Him?  In that sense, are we not all ‘babes’ in His service and our understanding of Him?”

  1. You know how to pick ’em, Maria. There isn’t enough time in the day to go everywhere I want but I’m glad that you spend some time at Mr. Barkman’s blog as well. He is prolific and correct I have found thus far, and I am happy to see you quoting something of his, particularly these scriptures. Psalm 8 is wonderful as is the scripture you have shared above.

    3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
    The moon and the stars, which You have [d]ordained;
    4 What is man that You take thought of him,
    And the son of man that You care for him?
    5 Yet You have made him a little lower than God,
    And You crown him with glory and majesty!

    9 O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

    Having 9 verses it has reflects the glory of God!

    It speaks of creation, It speaks of man’s place, and it hints at God’s provision and providence.

    Thank you for sharing and God’s blessings my friend…
